| HI - Austin We offer free storage in our bike shed, use of bike cleaning brushes and equipment, and we are located on the hike and bike trail around Town Lake in a city park. We have excellent public bus transporation (about 15 minutes, costs 50 cents) to downtown Austin, the convention center, the Austin airport, and the UT at Austin. | Riverwood Bike Hostel
We offer camping on the banks of the Texas Colorado River, showers, and kitchen and dining facilities at this time. Our bunkhouse will be completed by July—we can offer floor space and air mattresses until then. We have covered bike parking, tools and a local bike shop for those hard to find parts. Fishing equipment is provided, but customer pays for hooks, lures, and bait. Bastrop is a bicyclists heaven, with wide uncrowded streets, excellent quaint restaurants, movie theater, bike shop, grocery stores, and miles of back roads to explore. The famous park road through the "Lost Pines" area that links Bastrop and Buescher state parks is very close. The town of Bastrop was established by Stephen F. Austin prior to 1835 and has hundreds of historic houses. Internet is available at the local library and at the downtown internet cafe (we will have complimentary internet service by July 1st). Kayaking and Canoe rental can be arranged. Home cooked meals can also be arranged. I cook excellent spaghetti, jambalaya, curry, barbeque, and full Mexican breakfasts. Continental breakfasts are complimentary. |

Southern Tier Route
The Southern Tier Route follows hwy 71 through Bastrop. To reach the hostel turn north onto hwy 95. Go 1/4 mile and take a left on Chestnut St. Go approx. 1 mile and turn right on Main. Turn left onto Cedar St. (Tracy's grocery store is on that corner – great place for groceries). Turn right onto Carter St. at the second stop sign. After 1/4 mile turn left onto Riverwood. We are about 1/2 mile down at 193 Riverwood. |
